A Beloved Summer Tradition in Lakeside Downtown Kincardine

Every Saturday night from late June through early September, something happens in downtown Kincardine that you won't find advertised on a billboard anywhere else in Ontario: a full pipe band, in uniform, marching down Queen Street at 8 p.m. — rain or shine — the way it has every single summer since 1948.

No ticket. No entry fee. Just show up on Queen Street before 8 and you're part of it.

What to Expect

• A Spectacle of Sights and Sounds: At 8 p.m. sharp, the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, resplendent in their tartan kilts, steps onto Queen Street. With each note, the band draws a growing crowd of locals and visitors who march alongside, creating a moving tapestry of music, laughter, and community spirit.

• Join the Parade: Spectators are not just observers—they’re welcome to join the procession as part of the grand finale, following the band through downtown and back again to Victoria Park.

• Rain or Shine: This event has taken place every summer since 1948, regardless of the weather, making it a steadfast symbol of Kincardine’s enduring community pride.

• Open to All Musicians: Visiting pipers and drummers are invited to join the band for the parade—no pre-arranged permission required, though proper dress is expected.
